Mattingly: Kiss Your Mama With That Mouth?

loony tunesThose of us who have mothers have all been irritated with the woman at least once in our lives. Does this mean we shove should them? Um... no, probably not. Unless of course you have failed to notice the media spotlight that has surrounded your life since birth.

The son of former New York Yankees great Don Mattingly has been arrested on charges of shoving his mother, Kim Mattingly. No, wait. It gets better: he also spit in her face.

Taylor Mattingly, 24, is now facing charges consisting of battery, battery by bodily waste (ew) and criminal mischief. He was let out of the slammer late Tuesday on $250 bond, which is not nearly enough money, in my opinion.

Apparently, the ex-Mrs. Donnie Baseball sent Taylor a text message insulting him, his girlfriend and his father. She might be bitter, batshit crazy, and have alcohol-related issues surrounding her personal life, but still... shoving and spitting on the woman who gave birth to you? Geez. Show some restraint.

Donnie Baseball is Such a Homer

Don Mattingly may be a total New York Yankees homer, but that doesn't mean I don't agree with him on the Blah Blah Steroids Scandal involving Alex Rodriguez.

It's time to move on, folks. This crap went down more than two weeks ago. In the sporting news world, that's like 20 years.
"Here is how I feel," Mattingly said regarding the matter. "He did something wrong. He admitted [he used steroids from 2001-03], now let's move on."
It doesn't really matter what else he said about it -- especially since he kind of went on and on -- because that sentence made a great point. I don't want to hear from his cousin and I certainly don't care what his lawyer has to say. Call him a cheater, call him a failure, just stop regurgitating old news. It's killing me.

High five Donnie.

Joe Torre, Don Mattingly Move to LA

Just two days after the not-so-surprising resignation of Los Angeles Dodgers manager Grady Little, the club has a new skipper... one who grew up in Brooklyn rooting against the Dodger Blue.

Former New York Yankees manager Joe Torre was hired Thursday as their manager.

The winningest manager in postseason history moved from one illustrious franchise to another, agreeing to a three-year, $13 million contract.

And he's bringing Donnie Baseball with him. Mattingly, the Yankees' bench coach, is set to join Torre in Los Angeles as their hitting coach after being beat-out by Joe Girardi for the managerial spot in New York.

Fittingly, Mattingly's son, Preston, is a minor leaguer in the Dodgers' organization.
