Thome Heats Up the Self-Cleaning Oven

Jim Thome nailed his 512th career homer Sunday, tying Hall of Famers and Eddie Mathews for 19th place on the all-time list.

During the Chicago White Sox 6-0 shutout of the Tampa Bay Rays, Thome went 4-for-5 to tie a career high with four hits; something he has done 10 other times. Furthermore, the 37-year-old designated hitter raised his batting average from a measly .172 to a still-crappy .222.

But reaching milestones always makes up for a slow start. Congratulations, Jim.
