Oh, My Aching Bones

The Boston Red Sox have placed Curt Schilling on the 60-day disabled list.

The veteran right-hander, who signed a one-year, $8 million contract in November, is still rehabbing his pitching shoulder, and possibly still second-guessing whether he should have opted for surgery.

In other Beantown news, the club released 37-year-old catcher Doug Mirabelli, placing him on unconditional waivers Thursday. So, who will specialize in catching Tim Wakefield's knuckleballs now?

Upon Mirabelli's absense, Manny Ramirez snatched up his secluded, more spacious locker, asap.

Check out The Blowhard's blog, 38 Pitches, for his take on the loss of Dougie.
