After allowing three runs in just 1/3 of an inning for the struggling New York Yankees Saturday afternoon, the hot-headed Scott Proctor (4.10 ERA) took his frustration out by torching various equipment items near the top step of the dugout.
Even more disturbing is the fact that he gazed at the fire for several minutes from the railing, watching it smolder like his career. Proctor eventually grabbed a large jug of water and doused the blaze.
"I'm just throwing like sh*t," Proctor explained in an expletive-laced post-game rant. "It's pretty pathetic."Maybe it all started when the 30-year-old reliever surrendered #749 to Barry Bonds last week in San Francisco. Then there was the time he induced a bases-loaded walk-off walk against the Baltimore Orioles.
That sucking sound you hear is actually the Yankees. They were absolutely pounded by Chad Gaudin and the Oakland Athletics, managing only 1 hit in the 7-0 loss.
Remember kids: only you can prevent dugout fires.
