After getting absolutely pounded by the Twins last night, the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers (23-13) will put left-hander Nate Robertson on the hill to face righty Daisuke Matsuzaka and the AL East-leading Boston Red Sox (25-11) at 7:05pm ET tonight in the opener of a four-game series.
The Red Sox are 9-3 this month and have outscored their opponents 52-23 to win six of their last seven games. Matsuzaka has had a great amount of run support in his last four starts, but has struggled a bit with his command.
Robertson is 1-2 with a 6.75 ERA in five career starts against the Red Sox while Gary Sheffield, batting .361 with four homers and nine RBIs in his last nine games, can't wait to step up to the plate at Fenway. He is a career .325 hitter with six longballs and 26 RBIs in 41 games there.

Jason Marquis will look to win six consecutive starts for the first time in his career when his Chicago Cubs (17-18) take on veteran lefty Tom Glavine and the cruising New York Mets (23-13) at 7:10pm ET tonight.
Marquis has allowed just five runs in 36.2 innings during his winning streak and is 5-4 with a 3.96 ERA in 18 career appearances - 11 starts - against New York.
The Mets are feeling pretty good after taking two of three from the NL-leading Milwaukee Brewers this weekend. Glavine, on his way to career win #300, is 14-13 with a 3.57 ERA in 33 career starts against the Cubs, but lost both of his starts against them last season.
Alfonso Soriano will try to start a new streak after going 0-for-4 with a walk Sunday, ending the longest hitting streak of his career at 20 games. First baseman Derrek Lee is day-to-day after leaving in the second inning yesterday with neck spasms. He has played in all 35 games so far this season, and is leading the league in batting at .390.
