Friday's Babelicious Scoreboard

Everybody loves a good ass-whoopin', right? That's what the Texas Rangers got from Travis Buck and the AL West-leading Oakland Athletics Friday night.

Rangers starter Brandon McCarthy pitched just into the second inning, but managed to give up 6 runs and 2 walks worth of damage on 4 hits. Oakland got a two-run double from Bobby Crosby, an RBI double by Sexy Mark Ellis - before adding a two-run double in the eighth - and a run-scoring single from Shannon Stewart. McCarthy did strike out Mike Piazza once, however.

Oakland starter Joe Blanton allowed three runs and seven hits in six innings, striking out seven and walking one. Buck, 0-for-6 in his previous two games and 2-for-3 with 5 RBIs Friday, added a two-run shot in the fourth off Bruce Chen that stretched Oakland's lead to 10-zip.

The Rangers lost for the fifth time in six games as Ron Washington managed his first regular-season game against his former team.
